For the past 10 months, the For Every Kid Coalition has been asking elected leaders to invest in safe routes to school for every kid across Oregon. Legislators recently started work on a new transportation package, which could include funding to make streets safe around schools and allow for more kids to walk and bike to school. It’s go time!
Far too many families in Oregon don’t have access to safe sidewalks, crosswalks and bikeways to enable their kids to be safe and healthy. Our team has set an impressive goal of collecting 3,000 supportive public comments, but we can’t do it alone — we need your help to make sure every voice is heard!
We need you to TAKE THE PLEDGE! Collect postcards from people in your community and organization, and make sure every voice is heard for every kid. With your help, we can show our elected leaders just how many thousands of people believe that every kid deserves a safe route to school.
We’ve made it easy for you to help:
PLEDGE! First, pledge to help. Then, print, request or pick up blank comment cards.
- COLLECT! Collect 10 or more comment cards from friends, family and neighbors. Mail back or drop off no later than March 31st. Our address is 618 NW Glisan St., #401, Portland, Oregon 97209.
Every kid in our community deserves a healthy future, and a safe route to walk and bike to school can help get them there. Help us collect 3,000 comment cards by March 31st by submitting a pledge today.
Together, we can stand up for every kid in our community. I hope you’ll join us:

For Every Kid is a growing coalition of community, public health, and social justice organizations dedicated to making safe routes to school for every kid; advocating for dedicated funds for Safe Routes to School programs and projects that make streets safe. Supporters include the Community Alliance of Tenants, the Community Cycling Center, and thousands more.
Right now, kids who most need opportunities for physical activity don’t have the necessary safe infrastructure—sidewalks, crosswalks, and bike lanes—in their communities and around their schools to support a healthy childhood.
